Pegan Brooke

Pegan Brooke's paintings are inspired by the experiences of sustained reflection upon the Aven River in Pont Aven, France and the Pacific Ocean near her home in Northern California. Some of her compositions reference the river, in particular, moments of its relentless trajectory to the sea. Her intention is to find a way to communicate the fleeting quality of human experience and the flowing nature of being. Looking at a river, with all the obstacles, changes in course and detours one gets a visual of how it is possible to continue flowing through the complications of life. Other compositions offering a personal homage to the Pacific Ocean indicate how life can feel spacious, communal, and capable of holding all possibilities.
