Lives and works in Minneapolis, Minnesota
In 1985 Durham moved to the vibrant Los Angeles loft district. It is here that his visual language and focus solidified. Shortly after arriving Howard Fox, curator for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, invited Durham to participate in the 1987 museum exhibition titled AVANTGARDE IN THE EIGHTIES. The exposure from this show launched Durham’s career in Los Angeles and nationally. A year later he was asked to return to Art Center College of Design as a full time instructor, a position he held for a decade.
In his 32 year career, Durham has had 50 solo exhibitions and participated in over 140 group shows nationally. During this time he has never swayed from his focus – “to create ideas of a purposeful and sensual dialogue; a meditation on sublimity and grace.”
Durham’s works are held on numerous private and public collections internationally including: Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Orange County Museum of Art, Phoenix Art Museum, Bellagio, Las Vegas, Nevada, Beverly Hills Hotel, Hatsutomi, Tokyo, Japan, Hong Kong Renaissance, Hong Kong, China, Four Seasons in Atlanta, Georgia, Los Angeles, California, and Las Colinas, Texas, Nestle Corporation, Los Angeles, California, Pfizer, Incorporated, New York, Rockwell International, Seal Beach, California, among many others.
