SCAPE HISTORY

Southern California Art Projects & Exhibitions

A Different Beginning Than Most

SCAPE began as a brainchild and partnership of two inspiring art personalities with diverse, yet complementary expertise. SCAPE was founded in 2003 by Jeannie Denholm and Diane Nelson. Diane Nelson brought to the partnership a strong, proven track record delivering 25+ years of gallery ownership history. Jeannie came from a strong, proven track record, bringing 15 years of independent art consulting history. Together a hybrid business was formed: combining art advising services in a prime location with ample exhibition space for regularly scheduled exhibits. Through 2016, SCAPE (short for Southern California Art Projects & Exhibitions) grew its impact in the community from combined career experiences; two professionals with decades of individual work developing a culture of art collectors, artists, art collections and laying groundwork for the contemporary art scene in Orange County.

On Course for the Future

With Nelson’s decision to retire in 2016, Denholm, as sole owner, stepped up her personal commitment: To maintain a continued emphasis on quality exhibitions with the highest caliber of nationally renowned and emerging artists (emphasizing mid-career artists) while also exposing current and relevant contemporary art trends to the Southern California community. With aim to bridge scholarship of the academic art world and her drive & connections with collectors of fine art, SCAPE has led the region’s coastal art scene going forward.
