Bogatin Ott acquired fundamental traditional skills in art schools in Russia, and further developed as an artist in the US.
Avid traveler, Bogatin Ott explores in her art ideas of beauty, order, and harmony that exists within nature and eternal human pursuit of freedom and happiness. Buddhism and aesthetic philosophy Wabi Sabi that focuses on the transient and intimate beauty found in nature and esteems the purity of natural imperfection have been an important influence. Her visual imagery derives from her experiences in nature, and photographs that she takes on a daily basis. Some work is a direct contemplative response to a particular subject, while for creating others she uses new technology to make precise digital studies, which are later painted traditionally by hand. This process brings the balance between high tech and high touch into focus.
The digital work had arrived from the process of making the digital studies for paintings, and now stand on its own. The colors and widths of the lines are authentic, unaltered, and correspond directly to the details in photographs.
With this work the artist celebrates the order found in nature and the beauty found in chance. It also offers a fresh look on a familiar reality.
The art making for Bogatin Ott foremost is a spiritual activity, that is based on universal values and truths, and which is being expressed through the universal language of abstraction.
Anna Bogatin Ott’s works are held in numerous public and private collections, both nationally and internationally.
